 I see a lot of questions and debate on UKS about which is the best travel insurance for skydiving holidays. This is great to see but travel insurance only covers you when you are abroad so what happens to you once you are back in the UK particularly if you have a mortgage or miss work following sickness or an accident?

Way back in 1996 I got into jumping in a big way, I had done my first jump in 89 and because of work commitments never really managed to progress that much.
Things changed however and because of the excellent adventurous training facilities in the military I was able to throw myself into jumping and progress quite well.

 It was on
September the 14th 2001 in the Adrenalin Oasis of Swakopmund in
Namibia Africa, that I faced my fear of heights and decided to take the plunge
and do a tandem skydive, and what an experience it was, so much so that like
most of you reading this it changed my life forever.
Previously I
had been an office girl who refused to go round the Green road roundabout in
Headington Oxford as it was too scary, who would have thought 6 years down the
line I would be racing through the Skies faster than a Ferrari at 275 mph and
gaining a world record!

I first considered
doing a parachute jump when my grandfather died. At his side at all
times in his rocking chair was his WW2 emergency bail out chute, he told me
many stories of his sorties for bomber command.
He and his closest
friend George Schumacher had a deal where they swapped their parachutes working
on the theory that life deals you your fate and that somehow by swapping their
gear that this could somehow be disrupted.

 I was looking forward to the boogie weekend and wasn't entirely sure what I’ll be doing jumping wise but had FS load organising jumps in mind.
I have recently been practising the dark art of freefly and my last 35-40 jumps have been in this discipline since obtaining my FF1 sticker. So I’m not very current for flat flying!
The flat group jumps that I have done have been a number of 5-9 ways and a few 10-15 ways but it was months ago and not all very successful, so I had a reason to be a little nervous for the 12 way!
