Stretching – A Skydivers Guide Print E-mail

Stretching-10.jpg I deal with a lot of injuries and problems on a regular basis at the drop zone on a weekend and although not all of them can be avoided, some of them can be prevented or managed through the use of a regular stretching regime.

Regular stretching before jumping (and possibly afterwards if you have time and have had a physically stressing day) will reduce those “day after jumping” aches and pains that we’ve all had at sometime, will reduce the risk of injury and will allow you to perform more efficiently.

Doing these the day after will also help with any aches that you are experiencing. If you ever go on a 4 way camp or observe the serious teams, then you will know that a stretching regime is part of the daily jumping routine.

Exit Skydiving video and still photography is an interesting and rewarding subject, but the safety considerations which must be adhered to require discipline and knowledge of your own limitations.

Be patient and enjoy the learning process, but always be thoughtful of what type of jumps and conditions require you to sometimes say no. Know your gear inside out, and how to use it well and safely, and you mustn’t hesitate for a second if you have to get it off your head quick.
