The BCPA Freshers weekend was once again kindly hosted by Target Skysports - Hibaldstow, and proved to be the most successful freshers event to date with over 130 attendants. It was graced with students three favourite things… skydiving, alcohol and nakedness! The traditional 3-way handicap competition was replaced with an experimental and controversial scrambles set up, with the members of each team being drawn from 3 hats – Non-FS1, FS1 and Advanced FS1.
For those unable to compete in the scrambles a series of judged tracking dives were duly arranged. The teams were drawn, the dives were set, the creepers came out (did anyone else noticed what shape the Hib creepers were?)… and then it blew a gale! Not a problem for the BCPA of course, as the bar simply opened really, really, early instead.

The DJ played into the early hours and the bar slowly emptied of stock. People got naked, people forgot who they were and may have got a little closer to others than they may have wanted. Judging by faces on the Sunday morning, which dawned with wall to wall blue skies and perfect winds, a good time was had by all.

Lots of green faces emerged from tents and headed skywards, including several static line loads of new club members, keen to jump at a new DZ - well done guys! During the course of the day, of the 8 scrambles teams put together, 6 survived their hangovers to get at least round 1 completed.

The declared winners, with a grand total of 3 points in time, were Pench (Newcastle), Graham Wilkins (Newcastle) and Fiona Miller (Edinburgh) also known as Via Dos. Congrats guys! Thanks to all involved for an awesome weekend… and roll on to valentines!
