For some everything started in a bit of a blur who, myself
included, made the ‘unfortunate' mistake of partying far too long through into
Saturday Morning! Pushing my hangover to one side and sorting out the new
arrivals, had anyone told me I would once again run out of registration forms I
probably would not have believed them.
Given past years have seen turnouts of around sixty to
seventy people; I was pretty awed when over one hundred and ten showed up. No-one
could be found to say it was a quiet BCPA boogie with, as predicted, the
weather screwing up and throwing away everyone’s hopes. Come lunch-time a
creeper competition was enthusiastically organised with the help of Simon
Brentford seeing several teams perform the 3-way draw under the watchful eyes
of all those present. After 3-rounds, many crumpled fingers and the comedy
styling’s from a particular Loughborough
University the weather
allowed a brave few some cloud base lifts.
Later on with the sun setting and
the bar opened it was time for the DJ’s to spin up. Who would have thought we
would be thrown out of the bar at only half three in the morning?
The following morning and after only a few hours sleep most
people were spurred into action by the voluptuous blue sky awaiting them beyond
the world of their warm sleeping bag. Four of the twelve 3-way teams who
registered went on to complete round one of the draw. Commiserations to LUST:
Colostomy who missed the weather and ended up attempting round one from 3.5K
only to do a hop n’ pop.
Again many thanks to everyone who attended, where were those
that didn’t? Also thanks to Hib for hosting another fantastic event and putting
up with students being students. I look forward to seeing everyone out in Seville during the BCPA
Easter Trip!
